Community Scores

Community scores operate on a 1–5 scale, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. All results are based on statistics from MLS®, the City of Edmonton Open Data Catalogue, and other sources.

  • A high Homes score means you’ll find a lot of available real estate listings in that neighbourhood.
  • A high Family score means you’ll be close to schools and playgrounds, and everything is within walking and transit distance.
  • A high Safety score means bylaw violations and traffic accident rates are low, and you’ll be close to emergency services.
  • A high Recreation score means you’ll be close to sports and recreation areas.
  • A high Lifestyle score means you’ll be close to shopping and entertainment.

About Silver Berry

The Silver Berry neighbourhood, adjacent to the Bisset neighbourhood in Mill Woods, is located within the Meadows Area Structure Plan (ASP) and defines the west-central portion of the ASP. In addition to Mill Creek, the neighbourhood is bounded by 17th Street to the east, 23rd Avenue to the south, and 34th Street to the west.

Prior to urban development, the southern portion of Silver Berry was used for agricultural cultivation, and the northern portion of the neighbourhood, adjacent to Mill Creek, was left in its natural state. Silver Berry contains a variety of housing types, including single- and semi-detached homes, row housing, and apartments.

A large school and park site is located in the centre of the neighbourhood, adjacent to a linear park, and is surrounded by residential land use. Mill Creek runs the length of the neighbourhood’s northern border and provides a significant natural asset for residents. Silver Berry features public access to Mill Creek and also incorporates a variety of other parks and open space corridors, providing excellent access to outdoor amenity space for residents. Two utility rights-of-way exist within the neighbourhood, one running east–west and the other running north–south, and both have been landscaped as linear parks.

The neighbourhood plan includes several sites for community-level commercial space, which have not yet been built out. In the meantime, however, residents have access to a variety of services, including commercial and employment opportunities, in adjacent Mill Woods, at South Edmonton Common, and at the Edmonton Research Park, located west of the neighbourhood along 23rd Avenue.

Silver Berry is named after a shrub that bears grey-white berries. All neighbourhoods within the Meadows are named after local flora.
