  • A high Family score means you’ll be close to schools and playgrounds, and everything is within walking and transit distance.
  • A high Safety score means bylaw violations and traffic accident rates are low, and you’ll be close to emergency services.
  • A high Recreation score means you’ll be close to sports and recreation areas.
  • A high Lifestyle score means you’ll be close to shopping and entertainment.

About Rural West Big Lake

Rural West Big Lake is a largely rural area under development in northwest Edmonton. The neighbourhood is bounced by the communities of Hawks Ridge and Trumpeter to the north, Anthony Henday Drive to the south, 199 Street to the east, and Range Road 261 to the west. Residential development is currently limited but does include some single-family acreage homes. Some religious institutions are located here, as are two golf courses. Rural West Big Lake contains Horseshoe Lake and is also located near Big Lake in the Lois Hole Centennial Provincial Park, which offers a natural escape while still remaining close to the city. Transit service is not yet available in this community. However, residents can enjoy ready access to the rest of the city via Anthony Henday Drive and Yellowhead Highway. The city of St. Albert is located nearby as well.
