"Average Listing Price" is the average list price of all residential properties listed on the MLS® System in a given neighbourhood and includes condominiums, townhomes and single family detached homes. This is a market figure only and variations may not indicate a change in the price for any particular property.
The MacTaggart neighbourhood is located in southwest Edmonton and forms the southeastern boundary of the Terwillegar Servicing Concept Design Brief (SCDB). MacTaggart is one of seven neighbourhoods planned for the Terwillegar SCDB. MacTaggart is bounded by MacTaggart Road to the north, Rabbit Hill Road to the west, Whitemud Creek Ravine to the east, and the Anthony Henday ring road to the south.
The MacTaggart Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan (NASP) was approved by City Council in 2005, and construction of the new neighbourhood began very shortly thereafter. As of 2006, MacTaggart's housing was 100 percent single-detached homes. However, the plan for the neighbourhood is to provide a housing mix of 60 percent low-density residential and 40 percent medium-density residential units, including a combination of single- and semi-detached housing, row housing, stacked row housing, and low-rise apartments.
While parks, recreation, and commercial amenities have not yet been completed, the plan for MacTaggart is to construct a neighbourhood that incorporates a compact mixture of land uses and promotes pedestrian and bicycle travel through the neighbourhood and into other neighbourhoods. A school and park site will be built in the northeast corner of the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood’s connection with the Whitemud Creek Ravine provides residents with high-value access to natural outdoor amenity space.
The MacTaggart neighbourhood is located to the southeast of Terwillegar Towne, which incorporates commercial amenities and services along 23rd Avenue. The Leger transit centre and new southwest recreation centre are located along 23rd Avenue. Residents can access amenities throughout the city via Anthony Henday Drive and Rabbit Hill Road.
MacTaggart takes its name from Sandy Auld Mactaggart, a local entrepreneur and philanthropist with provincial, national, and international achievements in business, arts, and education. Sandy Auld Mactaggart was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1928, and moved to Canada at the age of one.
